MainOne Builds new POP in Tema to Enhance Enterprise Experience

MainOne, West Africa’s leading communications and data solutions provider, has commissioned a new telecommunications Point of Presence (PoP) in Tema, Ghana’s major shipping, manufacturing and trading hub.

This is the second time MainOne is building critical telecoms infrastructure in Tema. In August 2015, the company built fibre infrastructure to the data centers of Blu Telecom and Surfline respectively and pledged to extend its reach in the metropolis to support the growth of enterprise businesses. This new PoP is designed to serve Tema and its environs, and shall provide enterprise customers with robust ICT services, together with a bouquet of Communications services solutions. Speaking at a business breakfast meeting held at the Royal Nick Hotel in Tema, the company’s Business Executive for West Africa, Kazeem Oladepo, highlighted the impact that MainOne’s communications services solutions would have on small, large and medium sized enterprise businesses in Tema.

He explained that the PoP would enhance MainOne’s ability to deliver best-in-class connectivity and value-added service in the Tema area, reiterating the company’s commitment to the current operational improvements and future growth plans of its customers. Whilst stressing the Company’s commitment to improve its network reach and provide resilience to customers, Oladepo added that the key objective for building the Tema PoP is to serve enterprises and corporate clients directly from MainOne PoP which is directly linked to the MainOne international connectivity network through the company’s proprietary fiber backhaul infrastructure.

Oladepo noted that the vision behind his company’s decision to hold a breakfast event in Tema is to share MainOne’s impeccable service delivery experience and quality with enterprises in the Tema metropolis. This is in addition to showcasing the company’s robust product and solutions mix including, connectivity, enterprise voice, data centre services and unified communications solutions, to the enterprise businesses in Ghana.

Elaborating on the company’s overarching strategy, Oladepo stated that, “MainOne’s vision for a connected West Africa is to accelerate the penetration of reliable and affordable broadband internet services to support socio-economic development in the region. We are investing significantly in the distribution of our capacity within Tema, a major business district of Ghana, where demand for connectivity and other value added services is growing. Our plan is to continue to invest in infrastructure that will enable us extend our reliable connectivity and rich array of value added services across other areas in Ghana. For areas where we do not have our fiber coverage, we have partnered with Google’s Project Link to increase our network footprint and provide our customers access to a superfast fiber network. This expansion and partnership is part of our strategy and commitment towards assisting Ghanaian businesses in their quest for improved productivity and efficiency through dedicated and reliable connectivity services, as well as accelerating the rate of broadband penetration across Ghana’’.
